WIEL, MAX

Biography

Max Wiel is a photographer who spent his childhood in Madagascar where he started using his family's Super 8 camera to take pictures of the beautiful landscapes. Later, while working as a jazz club programmer, he began his professional career by photographing musicians. Wiel has collaborated with Jazz Hot, Jazz Swing Journal, and Batteur Magazine, as well as being the official photographer of the Jazz Valley festival. He has photographed at various jazz festivals, traditional music festivals, and jazz clubs across France. Wiel uses a Nikon FE camera for his 24x36 film work and his panoramic images arevtaken with a Fuji GX 617 camera. He has received commissions from the General Council of Val d'Oise, as well as from actors and fashion models. Wiel's personal projects include photographs taken on the banks of the Seine River and at funfairs.
