The Geffrye Museum specialises in the history of the English domestic interior and has a marvellous collection of paintings, furniture and decorative arts from 1600 to the present day. The Museum itself is a London landmark, set in beautiful early eighteenth-century almshouses in what was a rural setting but which in the 19th century was engulfed by the expanding East End of London.
