Biography

Holly Frean works at 401 Studios in central London. Having read Architecture at Oxford Brookes University she went on to study Fine Art at Camberwell Art School and City & Guilds of London School of Art. Frean has exhibited internationally with Rebecca Hossack Gallery and now collaborates with global design firm Andrew Martin, the New Craftsman Gallery, Anthropologie, Burberry and designer Paul Smith, where she has had both a solo show and several group exhibitions. In 2012 Frean won the National Open Art Competition Painting Prize awarded to her by Grayson Perry and had work selected by critic Skye Sherwin for the ING Discerning Eye exhibition at the Mall Galleries. Following her success at the 2014 Royal Academy Summer Exhibition, Frean was interviewed by Emma Jane Kirby on BBC Radio 4’s PM programme about the role of positive discrimination of women in the art world and as part of media coverage for the RA show. She also featured in a short BBC Arts film featuring the personal highlights of Tracey Emin, Alex Jones and Norman Ackroyd and was included in Tracy Emin’s film piece. Frean is delighted to be included in the private collections of the Duchess of Northumberland, Paul Smith, Kit Kemp MBE, Betty Jackson CBE, Johnnie Boden, Alan Duncan MP, Russell Tovey and Russell Howard, Lee Evans and Ricky Gervais.
