'I work from my home studio in Barton Le Clay, Bedfordshire, and most of my paintings are oil on panel and feature a gaunt owner (Garfield) and his faithful Jack Russell (Barton Darcy). Some now now also feature Garfield’s scatty new girlfriend (Babs) and her friendly Border Collie. The paintings usually come with humorous 'ditties'. - 4 line poems about the world as the dog sees it. I can’t remember when I first started doing the ‘ditties’. It was quite a few years ago. I would try to think of a salient title, and sometimes I would annotate my sketches. The ditties kind of evolved out of that really. I find they help me ‘ground’ the work. I like to give people a grin if possible. I regularly exhibit locally in Hitchin and Baldock, and my work can be found further afield at galleries in London, Cambridge, Cromer and Southwold.'
