Simon, Hilary
Biography
Hilary Simon trained as a theatre and costume designer. She has worked in the theatre, television and film industry . She has developed skills in other media including paintings on ceramics, designing murals, designing greeting cards, gift wraps and posters. She also organises workshops in silk painting,watercolor and embroidery. Her passion for textiles and colour inspired her to visit Guatemala,and later Mexico and Peru. Her career with her specialism in Latin America progressed into organizing events,and later working with museums. She works as a curator of Latin American art,textiles and fashion and has curated 2 major exhibitions at the Fashion and Textile Museum,London. Made in Mexico,2014 an exhibition about the Mexican Rebozo,as worn by Frida Kahlo. Weavers of the Clouds,Peruvian costume of the Andes 2019 Currently working on a Mayan Exhibition,involving lenders in Mexico and Guatemala.
