POSTAL MUSEUM
Biography
The Postal Museum focuses on the social history of communication, innovation and industry. The museum is home to a significant collection of physical, written and visual records that document four hundred years of the postal service. As well as photos and an unrivalled collection of stamps and philately, the museum also boasts a wonderful collection of the renowned 1930s General Post Office posters. Stephen Tallents (Public Relations Officer for the Post Office from 1933) commissioned some of the most avant-garde Modernist graphic designers of the day to design public information posters for the GPO, making the institution one of the most important patrons of early Modernist visual communication.
