Biography

Royal Museums Greenwich has a growing footage collection. This includes the exclusive and unique archival footage by the mariner and photographer Alan Villiers. These films, captured between the 1920s and 1940s, were shot all over the world, from Scandinavia and Africa, to Asia, North America and the Far East. Royal Museums Greenwich also has footage of the Cutty Sark, J-class yachting, midget submarine trials and much more. In addition, the collection features a diverse selection of contemporary aerial drone footage of the Maritime Greenwich UNESCO World Heritage Site. This includes the four sites of the Royal Museum Greenwich, which comprises the National Maritime Museum, the Queen’s House, Royal Observatory Greenwich and Cutty Sark.
