The IWM collection is unique in its coverage of military history and conflict, especially those involving Britain and the Commonwealth from the First World War to the present day, telling the stories of people's spirit, resilience and innovation in the face of adversity. Comprising more than 11 million photographs, the collection is also notable for works of art from the British government war art schemes, an international collection of posters, official documents and a constantly growing film and sound archive.
