Francois Arseneault

Biography

Francois Arseneault is a western Canadian based multi-faceted videographer/editor. With 40 years behind the viewfinder he has experience with numerous subjects. He has shot stock footage since 1987 - motorsports; military; urban streetscapes; nature; industrial and so much more. As a freelancer, he cut his teeth in documentary, news and corporate and has experience shooting around many parts of the world: US; Panama; Cuba; Ecuador; Peru; Chile; Turkey; Egypt; Italy and more. As well, he was embedded with the Canadian Army in Bosnia and Kosovo as a civilian cameraman on NATO missions in the late 1990s and has a tremendous amount of military footage. Francois has also been collecting vintage amateur 16mm film for 35 years amassing a significant collection of diverse subjects. He operates an in-house 4K+ Filmfabriek scanning system. The result is a constantly growing collection of some of the most remarkable, obscure and hard to find shots from 1923-91 and over 80 countries. His studio employs a collection of well maintained orphan format VTRs: BetaSP/SX; DigiBeta; 3/4” U-matic; Hi8; DVCam; Super-Betamax and VHS ensuring an ability to capture vintage video well into the future. He now spends most of his time in the edit suite catching up with a lifetime of footage, restoring and preserving it for future generations to appreciate and enjoy.
