Biography
The Addison Gallery of American Art has one of the most important collections of American art in the country with more than 20,000 works in all media-painting, sculpture, photography, drawings, prints, and decorative arts from the eighteenth century to the present. The museum's collection includes works by John Singer Sargent, James McNeill Whistler, Alexander Calder, Hans Hofmann, Edward Hopper, Georgia O'Keeffe, Jackson Pollock, Frank Stella, Yinka Shonibare Carroll Dunham, Kerry James Marshall and Lorna Simpson.
