BURY ART MUSEUM & SCULPTURE CENTRE

Biography

Bury Art Gallery was specially built to house the Wrigley Collection - several hundred oil paintings, watercolours, prints and ceramics collected by a local paper manufacturer Thomas Wrigley, donated to the town by his three children. The oils include Turner, Landseer and Constable and are unique to this country in still hanging together in the gallery built for them. The watercolours are only displayed for a short period each year for conservation purposes. The collection has been added to over the years and the 20th century paintings include Pasmore, Burra, Lowry and a growing collection of contemporary artists.
